Early Career
When she was 15 she worked as a servent to get some money. when she was working for them she met their son William. when she was 16 she married him. When her husband went to fight in the Revolutionary War she went with him.she worked as a girl that carried pitchers of water to the men and also cool down the canones. when her husband got wounded in the battle. she had to take his job of shoting the cannon. She was seriously wounded but because of her they won the war. after the battle Genral Washington found out about her heroic actions. He named her Sergent Molly. Molly and her husband returned to Carlisle, Pennsylvania. They had a son, John L. Hayes, in 1780. In 1786, Molly husband died but later that year. Following the death of her husband, she lived at the Carlisle barracks, cooking and washing for the soldiers for many years. then she married John McCauley. On January 22, 1852, Molly died
